Jonathon Learns an Important Lesson

Jonathon was convinced he had come up with the perfect plan to stop his wife Constance from asking him to help with the children in the evenings. After attending a few lectures on botany and chemistry, he went to his neighborhood apothecary and started engaging in cordial conversation with the druggist, Mr. Cummins.

After a while, Jonathon felt he had developed enough of a rapport with the druggist to hint at a special sedative he would like to have made. Mr. Cummins was quiet for a moment, looked around to ensure they were alone, and then gave Jonathon a wink. "I think I have just the formula you need," he assured Jonathon. "Come back in a week and it will be ready for you."

Despite her husband's caution, the druggist's wife Lilith overheard everything....
